What is Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese healing art that was introduced by Mikao Usui in the late 1800’s in Japan. Mikao Usui was a devout Buddhist, who, in his intense desire to understand and work with methods of medicine and healing, developed Reiki. “Reiki” is a Japanese word for the concept: “Universal Life Energy”

Reiki is becoming increasingly popular worldwide. What makes Reiki unique is that it incorporates elements of just about every other alternative healing practices such as spiritual healing, auras, crystals, chakra balancing, meditation, andaromatherapy.

Reiki energy is passed from the practitioner to the patient by placing the hands lightly on or above the body, allowing the healing energy to flow into areas of the body that are in need. Special attention is paid to the Chakras, or energy centers of the body. When the body’s energy is in balance the immune system becomes strengthened to fight diseases and return us to our natural state of wellness.

There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive a Reiki treatment. As in any healing the first step towards a healthier life is a desire to be healed.

Reiki is for the treatment of mind, body and spirit.
